Exciting New Features in Physgun’s Firewall Portal
We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes, and we’re excited to share some major updates to Physgun, our web application designed to make managing upstream firewalls easier than ever. For those of you who have been using Physgun to apply filters and rules to your game or dedicated servers, we think you’ll be particularly excited about what we’ve rolled out in our latest rework.
What’s New?
We’ve added a host of new features that will save you time, reduce complexity, and make managing your firewall a smoother experience. Here’s a rundown of what’s changed:
1. Introducing Presets: One-Click Rule Management
One of the biggest frustrations many of our users faced was the process of applying multiple filters and rules to an IP address. Previously, you’d need to manually repeat this process for every single IP, which could get tedious, especially when you had multiple addresses to configure.
With the new Presets feature, this hassle is a thing of the past. Now, all you need to do is add the IP address, select the preset that fits your needs (like a specific game server filter, for example), and let Physgun automatically apply the necessary filters and rules in one go. It’s fast, efficient, and streamlines the entire process.
2. Improved Rule Deletion: Confirmation from Upstream
Another area we’ve refined is rule deletion. In the past, it could take up to 10 minutes for rules to update on the upstream firewall once you deleted them. Now, when you delete a rule, Physgun will wait for confirmation from upstream to ensure the rule has been completely removed before completing the process. This improvement ensures your firewall is always in sync and that you don’t run into any issues with outdated configurations.
3. Teams: Collaboration Made Easy
We know many of you have been asking for a way to collaborate with your team members on managing your firewalls. With our newly added Teams feature, multiple people can now access and modify the firewall portal without needing to share login credentials. This feature is perfect for game server owners and dedicated server operators who work with multiple people and want to ensure secure, seamless collaboration.
4. Expansive API: Go Headless
We’re introducing an expansive API that allows developers to interact with the firewall portal headlessly. Whether you want to automate routine tasks, integrate Physgun with your existing tools, or build custom applications around our platform, the API opens up new possibilities for advanced users. It’s robust, flexible, and tailored for developers who want full control.

5. DDoS Notifications: Discord & Slack Integration
Our DDoS Notifications just got an upgrade. Previously, notifications were limited to Discord webhooks. Now, we’ve expanded this feature to include Slack webhooks as well. Whether you’re in the middle of a game or managing servers, you can stay informed and take action quickly when an attack is detected.
6. Streamlined Login Experience
Managing an extra set of credentials can be a pain. That’s why we’ve simplified the login process, eliminating the need for additional logins. With the streamlined login, you’ll have faster, more secure access to the firewall portal without the hassle.
7. Smarter Search: Context-Aware Results
We’ve upgraded our Search functionality to be more intelligent. Using contextual clues, the search now delivers more accurate results. Whether you’re looking for a specific rule, an IP address, or a preset, the smarter search ensures you find what you need quickly and effortlessly.
8. UX Improvements: Simplified Menus
We’ve made extensive UX Improvements to make using the Firewall Portal extremely easy. Menus have been simplified and combined with presets, making it effortless to create advanced rules. These enhancements ensure that managing your firewall is as intuitive and streamlined as possible.
